Mercury sticks do break and can spill life-threatening heavy metal fluids into your environment. Mercury becomes contaminated and needs periodic replacement even if your tubes don’t, adding to environmental danger if not disposed of in a legal and safe manner.
Synchronisation of 4 linked carburettors is made easy using the optional 4-channel adapter kit.
CarbMate is a reliable, cost effective & portable replacement for both mercury sticks and unreliable dial gauges.
The compact design and solid state electronics make the CarbMate very durable & resistant against nasty shocks & knocks. Further protection can be provided with an optional rubber holster.
During calibration resolution can be adjusted from 2cmHg (centimetres of mercury) down to 0,5cmHg to allow the user to fine tune. Most vehicle O.E.s specify a resolution of 0,5cmHg for accurate synchronizing and CarbMate is the only low cost alternative able to meet the standard. Where different vacuum intake values are required for each carburettor, such as with some Mercury/Mariner and Yamaha 4-stroke outboards, the exact positive or negative difference between two carburettors can be read off the "differential" scale, which is calibrated from - to + 4. (With resolution at 2cmHg the display difference spans from – to +8cmHg; with resolution at 0,5cmHg, the span becomes – to + 2cmHg)
A single green LED at the dead-centre "happy face" mark indicates that the compared manifold vacuums are equal to within the selected resolution. Synchronisation of 4 linked carburettors or throttle valves is made easy using the optional 4-channel adapter kit. Optional adaptor kit for use with ROTAX engines is also available. Power is provided from the vehicle battery or an external 12V battery via a 2-meter / 6 ½ ft power cable with large crocodile clips. Simple, but clear user instructions are printed on the CarbMate, and are supplemented by an additional information leaflet.
Threaded connection adapters in all-metal are available. As an alternative, also available as an option are the unique "flexi-rigid" style as used on the VacuumMate, which allow easier connection to difficult to reach manifold points. Further options include permanent manifold connection kits for anytime quick & easy synchronizing without the bother of fitting and removing temporary adapters (Click on Accessories, then Manifold perma-adapter(s)). A specially designed optional carry case for storing the CarbMate and threaded adapters is available.
